Staff are to be trained in relationship management practice by the business banking subsidiary of high street bank Alliance and Leicester, under a new partnership with De Montfort University.
Bryce Glover, the banks director of corporate banking, said: "Relationship management has been key to this growth and will continue to be crucial as we extend our services for medium and large organisations."
"While the majority of our managers are experienced in helping businesses to succeed, it is important we continually invest in and develop their skills," he added.
Alliance and Leicester says it has seen its corporate market share double in the last four years and commercial lending increase by 85 per cent.
The university has created a bespoke diploma which offers a balanced mix of knowledge-based input and practical work to develop employee skills.
De Montfort University was officially started in 1992 with the opening of the Milton Keynes campus, having begun life in 1969 as Leicester Polytechnic.
It is named after Simon De Montfort, Earl of Leicester, who is credited with establishing the first parliament in 1265.
