The new Breathe credit card from Barclaycard is designed with ecologically-minded consumers in mind. It combines standard practical credit card features with environmental donations and eco-friendly benefits.
First, the financial side of the card: it comes with a respectably competitive APR; a decent period for interest-free balance transfers (2.5% fee applies); a low interest rate on public transport purchases (excluding London transport); purchase delivery protection and 24/7 online management.
The card really comes into its own, however, on its environmental features and benefits. Cardholders can make the most of a lower purchase rate on public transport expenditure as well as a whole host of discounts and deals for eco-friendly and ethically-minded companies and products including Ecotricity, So Organic and Halfords. Furthermore, 50% of net profits after tax generated by the Barclaycard Breathe Card will be donated to Pure, the Clean Planet Trust to help fund government-approved environmental projects.
