Bread Prepaid MasterCard

The Bread Card, issued by Newcastle Building Society, is a prepaid MasterCard that can be bought online for £7.50. The card can be loaded with funds in a variety of ways including via PayPoint terminals, BACS or directly from the cardholder's wages. Once loaded, the card can be used for standard purchases, online transactions (for which there is no charge) and withdrawing cash; and since MasterCard is globally accepted the Bread Card can be used for overseas purchases. There is no monthly fee and Bread Card customer's can check statements and account balances online free of charge – in addition card balance can be checked via telephone or SMS.

You must be over 18 to purchase a Bread Card, however, like other prepaid cards on the market customers do not need a bank account and do are not subject to credit history checks. What's more Bread now offer a "limited features" card who cannot be verified immediately, with the option to upgrade later.
