Households relocating over the holiday season are increasingly able to cope with associated expenditure, according to research.
Alliance & Leicester finds that 53 per cent of home movers do not consider the additional costs to be an obstacle to their Christmas budgeting.
Director of mortgages Stephen Leonard comments: "With so many people moving into their new homes during the run-up to Christmas it can feel like a rush to get the family settled."
"Clearly planning ahead, budgeting and saving are the key to a less stressful move," he adds.
However, a fifth of home movers said they had failed to budget enough for Christmas and two per cent had turned to credit cards as a back-up.
Monetary concerns are discouraging many individuals from moving house this festive season, according to previous research by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
The September house price survey from the industry body detected a decrease in new sales instructions over the course of the month.
