Bank Statements

You will usually get a statement at the end of each month telling you what you've spent and what you've paid in. Debit card payments should list the name of the company. Cash withdrawals should list the location of the machine where you took out the money.

Some banks will send you a summary at the end of the financial year, too. This can be a good way of checking you haven't been living beyond your means, so you can adjust your lifestyle for the next 12 months.

Statements should be available on request from your bank. You might need to send a bank statement off when applying for a new utilities supplier, or when taking credit or loans.
