Despite the fact that many of the UKs utilities suppliers have raised their prices recently, there are still savings to be made.
Such is the assertion of independent gas and electricity watchdog energywatch - with those who have not switched before told to take action.
Georgina Walsh, a spokesperson for the organisation, explains: "If youve never switched before and youre with your original supplier, youll be paying more."
She adds that this is due to the special offers put in place by many firms in order to attract new customers.
"You can probably save at least £100, even if you change to another supplier on the same tariff - you can save more if you change tariffs," Ms Walsh observes.
The comments come following an increase in prices by E.ON last week, the fifth of the UKs six biggest firms to raise its costs.
Remaining big six member Scottish and Southern Energy has promised to wait until at least April before following suit.
