The rise of online insurance does not appear to be slowing, as Norwich Union announces a new partnership with eBay.co.uk.
eBay, which calls itself "the worlds online marketplace", will offer an online insurance centre in conjunction with Norwich Union, which claims to be the UKs largest insurer.
The site will allow eBay users to use an insurance "hub" to get quotes and buy insurance by clicking-through to Norwich Union Direct.
"This is the first partnership of its kind and it makes complete sense for Norwich Union, the UKs largest insurer, to link up with eBay, the nations leading online marketplace with its customer base of 15 million users," said Mark Godfrey from Norwich Union Direct.
"Were offering eBays users quick and easy access to insurance information and quotes via our online insurance centre and we feel confident that this partnership will prove to be very successful with eBays loyal customer base," he added.
The deal does not appear to have been set up with the expectation of extending the service to other insurance providers, or to provide exclusive offers through the service, but will effectively be a sponsored link from eBay to Norwich Union.
