Norwich Union, provider of personal health insurance policies, has acquired Maidenhead-based Rehabilitation UK for its healthcare subsidiary.
The move extends Norwich Unions capabilities in the occupational health sector and will allow it to treat musculoskeletal injuries such as whiplash by the use of a clinician-led service.
Tim Baker, commercial director of Norwich Union healthcare, said: "Norwich Union has been working with Rehabilitation UK for a number of years."
"This move will allow us to utilise Rehabilitation UKs expertise in the area of rehabilitation and work with their network of physiotherapists and psychological therapists," he added.
Rehabilitation UK says it has developed an evidence-based process for diagnosis and treatment which streamlines the referral procedure, limiting the duration of health insurance claims and speeding up recovery.
Norwich Union is the largest insurance provider in the UK, based on gross worldwide premiums.
It says its Physio Fast product combines vehicle and health insurance to provide fast and effective treatment to parties injured in accidents, regardless of who is to blame.
