Women can find even cheaper car deals

Women are missing out on the best car insurance deals, it has been claimed.

Sainsburys Bank suggested that the potential savings for women are as great as £140 a year, in addition to the average £61 discount female drivers get because of their genders safe driving.

But the opportunities for cheaper deals offer are not being taken, with a Bradford & Bingley survey last year showing that women are only half as likely as men to bother searching out the discounts available.

"Women motorists need to be aware that these savings can vary dramatically and should seek a range of quotes - not just from their existing insurer or women only policies," said Will Blackett, Sainsbury’s Bank car insurance manager.

"When purchasing car insurance, all motorists should shop around to not only find a competitive quote but also excellent cover."

A recent study concluded that women were much safer drivers than men, adopting cautious and steady responses at roundabouts and T-junctions that greatly contrast with impulsive, risk-taking male driving characteristics.

Unsurprisingly, this is reflected in accident figures, but women should make more effort to take advantage of the cheaper costs for car insurance that their genders safe driving has earned.
