No claims bonuses (NCB) can make a significant difference to the cost of car insurance, according to More Than.

The insurer has advised that shopping around to gauge which company offers the best car insurance premiums is crucial, as having a NCB of five years can result in a 60-75 per cent discount on premiums.

Keith Maxwell, motor insurance manager for More Than, has highlighted the added advantage that a NCB can bring motorists who chose to purchase their car insurance policy through More Than.

"We offer a unique no claim bonus protection - with other car insurers, you can get a bonus for a four-year no claim period. If after these four years you make a claim, this discount is reduced," he commented.

"We offer a lifetime protection of this discount, so if after the no claim period you have an accident and you make a claim, your bonus is protected and you can claim as many time as you want after that."

For those without a NCB saving can still be made by shopping around on the internet, as research released earlier this year by Sainsburys Bank revealed that greater competition in the car insurance market has forced providers to reduce their premiums.
