People who drive more environmentally-responsible cars are to be rewarded through the launch of a discounted car insurance policy from More Than.

With growing pressure on society to tackle increasing environmental concerns, More Than has released the policy to "lead the green motoring crusade".

According to the companys research, more people would drive eco-cars if there was a material incentive to do so. Seven out of ten Britons said they would switch to a hybrid car if they were cheaper to run than normal cars and over half would consider changing if there was reduced motor tax and car insurance premiums.

"Green motoring is going to be a massive growth area for the car industry as petrol prices continue to rise and concern over global warming grows," said Keith Maxwell, head of motor insurance at More Than.

"We want to financially reward drivers who are taking steps to do their bit for the environment."

As well as the reduced car insurance premiums from More Than, drivers of hybrid cars are exempt from Londons congestion charge and also benefit from a reduction in car tax.
