Young drivers looking to save on their car insurance may be interested by a new offer.
The deal from More Than offers 18- to 25-year-olds a 40 per cent reduction in the cost of their car insurance if they do not drive between 23:00 and 06:00 BST.
The insurer is responding to its own statistics, which show that 40 per cent of accidents resulting in fatalities or serious injuries occur between these hours.
Drivers who sign up for the DriveTime deal will have a GSM tracking device attached to their vehicle, with a £25 fine imposed if the car is driven between 23:00 and 06:00 BST.
"High accident rates for young drivers on the roads at night are a major issue and we have been working for some time to come up with a solution to reduce these," commented Bryan Turner, head of the new insurance initiative.
"DriveTime provides a fantastic way for young, safe drivers to avoid being on the roads at the most dangerous times and can also save them a significant amount off their insurance costs."
The running costs of a new car take up around 40 per cent of the average young persons income, the company claims.
