Insurance company Churchill has introduced a new option which will see customers receive courtesy cars on a like-for-like basis.
Under the new scheme, customer vehicles are replaced with one of a similar sized similar-sized body and engine up to a five-door two-litre estate car. An MPV or van would be replaced by a mini MPV or small van.
Frances Browning, spokesperson for Churchill, said: "Having to go through the experience of a car accident and subsequently needing to drive a replacement car is traumatic and disrupting."
"We are giving our customers the option that if they must have a car that matches their lifestyle, then we are able to provide it causing the minimum disruption to them as possible," she added.
The bolt-on feature also includes travel costs of up to £500 for out-of-pocket expenses incurred through injury, if the claimant is unable to perform their daily routine.
Enhanced cover is available for £25.20 on top of a comprehensive policy, and comes as a reaction to simple policies, favoured by online providers, which provide no courtesy car and limited call centre coverage.
