Is your home protected against floods?
With this year's British summer more of a washout than usual - and the bill to insurers reaching £3 billion, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI) - the need for suitable insurance cover has never been so apparent.
But the ABI has called on the government to do more to ensure homes are not unnecessarily exposed to the risk of flooding.
And the issue extends to vehicles too, with the full effect of the floods yet to be passed on to motorists, market analyst Experian states.
Figures published by the firm show that car insurance premiums rose by less than one per cent between July and September.
David Murby, managing director of Experian's Insurance Service division, predicts that "the true impact of the floods is likely to manifest itself in insurance premiums over the next few months in the direct market once claims have been settled".
He adds that effects typically take longer to emerge in the insurance broking market - meaning premiums could rise more slowly when obtained from such practitioners.
