In the run up to the wedding season it may be advisable to consider taking out extra insurance if youre planning a big day in order to protect against the worst happening, More Than insurance has said.
The company points out that a wedding dress alone costs an average of £1,000 and standard household contents insurance may not cover all the extra valuables being stored.
Added to this, the average value of a wedding list held at a shop is £1,500 - suggesting cover may be even more important shortly after you say "I do", they say.
"Weddings are expensive and stressful enough without the added financial burden of something being stolen or damaged," says Craig Allen, home insurance product manager at MORE TH>N.
"Although it may not be top of your agenda, its worth making a quick phone call to your insurer to make sure you have the benefit of extra cover," he added.
