Churchill Home Insurance has revealed the average cost of attending a wedding in the UK.
In recent research from the home insurance provider, Churchill found that guests typically spend £60.31 on the ideal gift for their loved ones.
However, on average, respondents to the survey stated that they believed etiquette demanded a minimum spend of £53.
Abi Clark, spokesperson for Churchill Home Insurance, said: "The research shows that as a nation we like to make an effort at weddings.
"This is often reflected in the costs associated with the big day, for example the gifts, hen and stag dos and even new outfits."
The cost of going on a hen or stag night was found to be an average of £82.40, with one in three guests saying they had gone on a night out to celebrate the impending nuptials.
Home insurance customers are advised by Churchill that for four weeks before and after their wedding day, an extra ten per cent will be added to their policy amount to allow for any gifts they may receive.
