Consumers have been warned that they should take into account factors besides price when arranging their home insurance cover.

A spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers explains that the cheapest home insurance policy available may not afford as much cover as a more expensive counterpart.

Kelly Ostler-Coyle says: "Always shop around and base your decision on what product youre taking out and what cover it provides for you."

Homeowners are advised to ensure they are "completely covered" should they discover a claim needs to be made.

Some of the issues which could arise include whether belongings are insured when the individual takes them outside of the home itself.

Meanwhile, the value of possessions which may be claimed for and whether any legal cover is provided should also be considered, Ms Ostler-Coyle asserts.

The news follows research from insurance provider Allianz which found that a third of people have argued with their neighbours.

In light of the discovery, the insurer recommended obtaining an insurance policy with legal coverage.ADNFCR-8000200-ID-18568195-ADNFCR©
