As well as taking advantage of cheap travel insurance deals, holiday makers must also ensure that the policies still offer adequate protection, a new report has warned.
Financial research company Defaqto has advised that there has never been a better time to buy travel insurance, with prices being driven to low levels due to extreme competition in the industry.
However, although single trip travel insurance policies can cost as little as £8, Defaqto has outlined that the cover offered may be less than adequate.
Brian Brown, associate director at Defaqto and author of the report, said that "if the premium looks too good to be true, it probably is".
"With premiums at historically low levels there is no excuse to travel abroad without insurance," said Mr Brown.
"However, while these lower premiums are very welcome, consumers need to be careful that the policies do not come at the price of reduced cover. Travellers should assess the level of cover they require and then shop around for it," he added.
