New research by esure Travel Insurance indicates that many Britons are set to head abroad with expensive gadgets this summer.
The study by esure.com found that the price of electrical items taken on holiday has trebled during the past five years, reports Easier.
The statistics indicate the potential losses that could occur should your valuables get lost or stolen while abroad and highlight the need to have adequate travel insurance.
Around three in four holidaymakers are expected to take a digital camera or a mobile phone with a camera facility abroad this summer, while 30 per cent are expected to take camcorders.
In addition, PSPs are expected be in one in ten suitcases
"With prices of hi-tech gadgets continuing to rise and technology developing so swiftly, its crucial for people not to lower their guard whilst on holiday and only take necessities with them," said Jacky Brown, head of travel insurance at esure.
"Holidaymakers should make sure that they have adequate travel insurance cover for peace of mind."
In addition to being properly insured, tourists should also ensure that valuables are never left unattended and that all expensive items are kept in a hotel safe when not required.
