Bradford & Bingley has announced that it is set to launch a new single parent family travel insurance package.
The insurance deal has the same cover of a full family offering but the premium is lower to reflect the fact that there is only one parent requiring cover.
Such a policy will be a great financial boost to single parents looking to go abroad, as the cost of vacations can soar during the school holidays.
The policy covers £10 million in medical expenses, loss or damage of luggage of up to £2,000 as well as exhaustive cover for personal effects.
Bradford & Bingley’s head of general insurance, Dave Foyle, explained that the firm understands that single parents can sometimes pay over the odds.
"With this in mind and in conjunction with FirstAssist, we are launching a competitive single parent travel insurance to help make cover more affordable for single parent families," he said.
"For example, a 14-day single trip to Europe will cost of £44.43 for a family with two children, whereas the single parent rate is £32.84."
There are thought to be around 2.5 million single parent families in the UK.
