More Than travel insurance has urged its customers to check their policies in the rush to take outstanding holiday allowance by the end of the year.
The insurer announced that nine out of ten of people surveyed still have holidays to take before the end of the year.
And some 25 per cent said they still have more than ten days to take, prompting predictions of a last-minute rush.
Keira Clark, head of travel insurance at More Than, said: "Brits are avid travellers and we often find ourselves in quite far-flung and exotic locations."
"We urge everyone travelling abroad to make sure they have adequate holiday insurance to cover any eventuality," she added.
Up to four million travellers said they would visit places they would not consider in the summer in an effort to "top up their tan" in the cold winter months.
However, 17 per cent of under-25s told More Than that they never take travel insurance when going on holiday.
More Than says it offers its travel insurance customers a 24-hour helpline all year round for any queries while abroad.
