Travel insurance provider Lloyds TSB has warned its winter sports-loving customers of the need for good etiquette on the piste.
Research by the bank showed that personal space on the slopes is at a premium, with 60 per cent of ski rage due to being cut up by another skier and 28 per cent caused by collisions.
With 22 per cent of injuries resulting from crashes between skiers, Lloyds TSB is asking its customers to make sure they are covered by travel insurance.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB insurance, said: "Before you venture out in the snow, check that you are covered for accidents and lost property on the slopes.
"While most people will have travel insurance, many dont realise that winter sports may not be automatically included."
Most injuries (49 per cent) were seen to be caused by awkward landings, while 20 per cent occurred when skiers took to difficult runs.
The advice follows research from Post Office travel insurance which found that medical bills in the US can reach £50,000 if surgery is required.
