An increasing number of professionals are taking time out to find renewed motivation, according to American Express.
The credit card provider has advised looking into long-term travel insurance policies to make sure any such trips remain stress-free.
Chris Rolland, head of insurance services for American Express, comments: "As an increasing number of Brits take a break from working life to embark on a sabbatical or gap year, it is important they get the right type of gap-year travel insurance to suit their needs."
Those travelling on a two-year visa are told to obtain a policy which reflects the duration of their trip.
American Express notes that 22 per cent of the UK workforce say they see travel as a means of avoiding boredom or disheartenment, while 27 per cent think they are in need of a career break.
The company recently reported that the length of the typical working day is leaving 45 per cent of Britons without enough time to spend exercising.
