Legal & General offer two types of life insurance policy: Level Term Assurance and Decreasing Term Assurance. The first type, available with terms between 1-40 years, ensures that the amount you are insured for stays constant throughout the life of the policy. The second type of policy is available with terms between 5-40 years. These policies are generally designed to protect a policy holder while repaying a mortgage as the insured amount decreases throughout the policy’s term. Both policies come with terminal illness cover as standard and can be augmented by two extras – Critical Illness Cover, providing cover against a range of specified conditions; and a Waiver of Payment option which allows policy holders to waive premium payments in the event that they cannot work for more than six months due to illness or accident.
