If facing repossession, it is important to seek professional assistance, it has been claimed.

Financial inclusion network Transact urges Britons to obtain expert advice if they are facing affordability concerns relating to their properties.

Jamie Elliott, coordinator at the organisation, tells consumers: "Dont put your head in the sand."

He notes that Londoners can seek help from services such as Capitalise, while Citizens Advice serves the whole country.

"The advisers can negotiate with the creditors to sometimes get debt written off or to agree on payments," he contends.

While his suggestions relate to debt in general, he notes that expert assistance is particularly important for those facing repossession.

Should an individual be required to attend a repossession hearing, Mr Elliott asserts that representation can make "all the difference".

He adds that seeking help should be the "number one priority" for anyone who does not think that they can cope with their levels of debt.ADNFCR-8000200-ID-18636283-ADNFCR©
