Brightside Insurance was established in 2001, when they were known as Commercial Vehicle Direct Insurance services and specialised in van insurance. Over the years the company expanded and in 2010 it started providing car insurance, called eCar, which was replaced by Brightside Car in 2015. The company works with a mix of major insurers and smaller, more specialised insurers to try and give customers competitive quotes for their car insurance. Brightside specialises in offering car insurance to more niche markets, such as people with convictions, owners of modified or high-performance cars, or individuals who haven’t lived in the UK their whole life. These groups may traditionally find it harder to get affordable car insurance, which is what Brightside aims to give them. The company is based in Aust, a Gloucestershire village near Bristol.

Drivers can choose from the standard three levels of cover with Brightside car insurance: third party only; third party, fire and theft; and comprehensive. Depending on which policy is taken out, customers may have access to a range of benefits such as windscreen cover, personal accident insurance, and use of a courtesy car. They also have the option to purchase additional extras alongside their policy such as breakdown cover, key cover, and excess protection. With this range of options, Brightside Insurance aims to provide a tailored policy that fits individual needs.

Brightside have a UK-based sales and customer service team, as well as online services, that customers can use to purchase or amend a policy and ask any questions. Customers can also call their 24-hour claims helpline in the event of an accident.
