Wise Driving (iGO4) Car Insurance
Wise Driving is a trading name of iGO4 Limited, an insurance broker that was founded by Matt Munro and Tom Cooper in 2007. It is based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, and offers car, van, and home insurance. Wise Driving was itself established in 2012 specifically to provide telematics policies to younger drivers. Young and newly qualified drivers often face high insurance premiums as they have little, if any, driving history and are considered a ‘high risk’ to insurers. Telematics policies are an attempt to give this group more affordable insurance by monitoring their driving habits and assessing their safety.
Wise Driving gives drivers the option of third party, fire and theft cover or comprehensive cover with their telematics policy. Drivers with a telematics policy have a device in their vehicle which tracks how well they drive. It measures elements such as braking, acceleration, speed, and time of day the car is used, to produce a driving score which the customer can view online. Drivers with a good score, and so who are considered safe, can benefit from discounted insurance. If they want extra protection, customers can also choose to purchase some optional features alongside their policy, such as breakdown cover, key cover, and motor legal protection.
Drivers can either have a ‘black box’ fitted to their car or fit a small device that connects to their smartphone. Both methods track your driving, although only the ‘black box’ can track the location of the vehicle if it gets stolen.
