Animal Friends Pet Insurance
Animal Friends Insurance was founded in 1998 by Elaine Fairfax, who aimed to use the business to help support animal welfare charities. The company is based in the Wiltshire town of Amesbury, with another office located in Swindon. Animal Friends provides cover for dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, and ponies, as well as for riders. It aims to issue competitively priced policies that are catered to the needs of both owner and pet.
Animal Friends offers four different cover plans, ranging from the most basic protection to a fully comprehensive policy. Their ‘Accident only’ policy is the most basic and generally most affordable policy, as it only covers vet fees for injuries caused by an accident. ‘Time Limited’ policies (which provide cover for a set amount of time) and ‘Max benefit’ policies (which offer a fixed level of cover per condition, without any time restrictions), provide further cover for illnesses and other conditions, as well as accidents. Once the limit is reached for a specific condition, this would be excluded from future renewals. The ‘Lifetime’ policy is the most comprehensive policy as it provides ongoing protection for your pet, with the cover limit refreshing each year.
The more comprehensive policies offered by Animal Friends come with a range of additional benefits, depending on the level of cover taken out. For example, they may include costs of boarding kennels/catteries, public liability cover, theft/straying cover, and cover for advertising/rewards if your pet goes missing. Transport costs to vets and accidental damage to third party property may also be included on the most comprehensive policy. Customers can choose from different cover limits within these policies, according to what their pet needs.
