RAC Van Insurance
The Royal Automobile Club (RAC) is a motoring services organisation established by Frederick Richard Simms in 1897. The associate side of the organisation was incorporated as RAC Motoring Services and continues to operate separately to the private club. RAC originally specialised in roadside and breakdown assistance and, although this continues to be a major part of its business, it has since expanded into other areas, including insurance, route planners, and vehicle checks. As a leading UK motoring organisation, RAC offers many different insurance products including van and other vehicles.
RAC offers comprehensive and third party, fire and theft van insurance policies. They source policies from a panel of insurers to try to find competitively-priced cover that will match the needs of their customers. In addition to the cover offered under third party, fire and theft, comprehensive RAC van insurance policies also provide accidental damage and vandalism cover, windscreen cover, and may include personal possessions cover to protect items left in the vehicle. Motor legal cover may also be provided in the policy.
Policyholders can purchase some optional extras from RAC to tailor their van insurance to their specific needs. For example, they offer excess protection, cover for a replacement van (for a set number of days), different levels of breakdown cover, and tools in transit cover. This protects any tools or equipment that get damaged whilst they are in the vehicle (subject to certain terms). These optional extras can be purchased altogether in one package or individually, depending on what the van driver needs.
RAC also offers temporary and short-term van insurance policies for drivers who only need cover for a limited period of time.
Van drivers who are already members of the RAC, may be eligible for a discount on their insurance.
